• The Ambulance Department meets the first Sunday of each month – 7:00 P.M. at Powell Township Fire Hall

• The Parks & Recreation Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month – 6:30 P.M. at Powell Township Hall

• The Powell Township Board meets the third Tuesday of each month – 7:00 P.M. at Powell Township Hall

NOTICE – Extended Registration Hours for Special Election 

NOTICE – SCHOOL MILLAGE SPECIAL ELECTION 

November 4, 2025, 7 A.M. to 8 P.M.

From the Powell Township Election Department:

1. The Powell Township School Millage Special Election is November 4, 2025, 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
2. The Township Clerk’s office extended hours for election registration are Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
3. The Public Accuracy Test for the election is on Monday, October 20, 2025, 10:00 A.M., at Town Hall. This tests the election ballot equipment’s accuracy.
4. A job posting for additional Election Inspectors is also available on the site homepage, at the link in #6 below, on town bulletin boards, by inquiring at the township office Mondays or Thursdays 9AM – 12PM, or by calling 906-345-9345 extension 10.
5. For all current Election Inspectors: please update your application if you wish to remain in place for any elections after January 1, 2026.

NOTICE – Household Hazardous Waste Dropoff – 6 DATES

Household hazardous waste collections are at the Marquette County Landfill from 3–7 p.m. on May 1, June 5, July 10, August 7, September 11, and October 2, OR by appointment. ARE YOU INTERESTED? SECRETARY OF STATE MOBILE OFFICE EVENT IN POWELL

Powell Township can request a Secretary of State (SOS) Mobile Office Event, during which you can complete basic SOS transactions (listed below) locally. The likely event location would be Powell Township Hall. Full lists of transactions and requirements are available by calling or visiting the SOS in person or online.  If you want a local SOS mobile office event, please call or e-mail Powell Township (906-345-9345 ext. 10 or clerk@powelltownship.org). If there is enough interest, the Township will schedule an event and post event notices throughout town.

• Get a first-time Michigan ID, or renew a driver’s license or ID
• Accomplish vehicle transactions (new or renew or correct plates or tabs, transfer titles, remove liens)
• Apply for or renew a disability parking placard
• Register to vote or update voter registration details

NOW AVAILABLE IN POWELL TOWNSHIP:

HOME DELIVERED MEALS or “MEALS ON WHEELS”

A hot meal is delivered to seniors who are homebound and are unable to prepare nutritious meals for themselves. Suggested donation: $3.50 per meal

In addition to providing healthy and well-balanced meals, the meal deliverers also provide an important service by checking on the homebound seniors when they deliver the meals.

DO YOU QUALIFY FOR HOME DELIVERED MEALS?

– Eligibility requirements for Home Delivered Meals include:

– You or your spouse must be 60 years of age of older.

– You must be homebound and cannot leave your home without assistance.

-You are unable to prepare meals and you have no one nearby to prepare your meals.

WHAT DO THESE PROGRAMS COST?

The suggested per meal donation is $3.50 for each Congregate or Home Delivered Meal, but no one is ever denied service due to their inability to donate. Family members are also encouraged to donate on behalf of their loved ones. Since federal and state funding does not cover the full cost to operate the Senior Meal Programs, the generosity of program participants and their families is crucial. Without these donations CAAM would not be able to serve every senior in need of Congregate or Home Delivered Meals.

Community Action Alger-Marquette Senior Meals Programs serve close to 100,000 meals a year to seniors in Alger and Marquette Counties, helping those seniors live longer, healthier and more enjoyable lives. Volunteers are needed in a variety of ways to continue providing these important meals. If you wish to learn more call our office for more information.
